Aubrey to be at the Wilmington Christmas Parade

Aubrey is going to be the grand marshal of the annual Christmas parade in her hometown of Wilmington, Delaware tomorrow (Friday)!

The grand marshal will be Wilmington native Aubrey Plaza, star of the NBC comedy series “Parks and Recreation”

The 46th annual Jaycees Christmas Parade will begin at 11 a.m. Friday in downtown Wilmington.

The grand marshal will be Wilmington native Aubrey Plaza, star of the NBC comedy series “Parks and Recreation.” Plaza also was in the movie “Funny People,” which came out in the summer. Emmanuel Savary, a figure skating champion, also will be at the parade.

The parade kicks off at Fifth and Market streets and ends at Eighth and King streets. The grandstand will be at 10th and Market streets.

The parade will feature school marching bands from A.I. du Pont, Salesianum, Cab Calloway and Delaware Military Academy. Two Philadelphia string bands also will perform.

Local groups will dance, sing, cheer and march.

Floats include Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Bob the Builder, Cinderella, Elmo and Dora the Explorer. A fleet of antique cars will be in the parade too.

After the parade, Santa Claus will be in the lobby of the Baby Grand on Market Street from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Carolers will be on Market Street and in Rodney Square from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be a holiday bazaar with vendors and a synthetic ice skating rink during this time.
